The Harbourfront is a perfect place to spend the day, be it with a loved one of the family. Apart from the
usual shopping mall, which happens to be excellent, it also provides a whole range of activities to keep
everyone happy. At Queen's Quay there is a gorgeous shopping mall with specialty shops in an old
warehouse building. The restaurants on hand are of a top quality, and some provide outside dining area in
order to make the most of the waterfront.
Take a stroll along the scenic walking trail to York Quay. Stop off
at the Power Plant, an exciting contemporary art gallery, and the Du Maurier Theatre Centre nearby. On the
Quay itself, there is a wonderful buzz of excitement, with people glassmaking, jewelry making, silk-
screening and metal sculpting. If something catches your eye, you can buy it in a store nearby.
The lakefront
houses a children's play area, a small pond and a Centre Concert Stage. John Quay, just across the dainty
footbridge, boasts some fabulous eateries. The Harbourfront is a great place to wind down and just relax.
However, if it's something a little more demanding you're looking for, then sailboats and powerboats can be
rented at the Harbourside Boating Centre. You can also sign up for sailing lessons. The Harbourfront is
busy all year round, hosting more than 4,000 different events, including the Milk International Children's
Festival, the International Festival of Authors in October and the First Night Celebration of the Arts in
December.
