Ontario Science Museum

Situated at 770 Don Mills Road, North York at Eglinton, this state-of-the-art science centre makes for a fun and educational day out. It was one of the first of its kind around, and is still one of the best, attracting a massive amount of visitors annually. Lively and challenging, it is divided into 12 separate halls. You can send a probe into space in the Space Hall, or listen to a heart murmur in the Human Body Hall. Examine the games people play and the principles behind them in the Sports Hall, or surf the Net in the Information Highway area.

One of the most popular halls is the Communication Hall. This involves the science of human nature and offers tests and games that measure memory, intelligence and ability and willingness to cooperate. The Earth Hall contains a working weather station and a seismograph, enabling you to create a mini-earthquake. The Technology Hall boasts a model of the world's first steam engine and a "bionic woman", and you can see yourself in infrared in the Matter, Energy and Change area.

Natural phenomena are explored in detail in the Science Arcade, while the Question of Truth Hall explores the impact of bias, racism and sexism on scientific practice. Another crowd puller is the Omnimax Theatre. This is in effect a dome screen with digital surround sound. Amazingly, it gives the illusion of being in the middle of the movie action.
